Sentiment Card: Bringing a triumphant spirit, inspiration and courage.

Willow Tree is an intimate, personal line of figurative sculptures representing qualities and sentiments that help us feel close to others, heal wounds, or treasure relationships to living things. Artist Susan Lordi hand-carves each original piece with this thought in mind. Her figures continue to evolve as she identifies emotions so important for us to convey, and renders them in simple, pure gestures. Inspiration for this piece, from the artist: "I sculpted the first Angel of Courage in 2001 to celebrate the triumphant spirit, inspiration and courage we call upon to face challenges in our lives — whether they be our health, or the well-being of our loved ones. In response to an overwhelming request for this sentiment, I re-sculpted Courage for 2006. I hope this figure can be a reminder of people in our lives who inspire us with their strength and courage everyday."
